Powder day at Cannon
A pivotal moment in my snowboarding life.
I was all excited about a decent snow storm rolling in and went up to the Cannon Mountain resort. Very early in the morning to be among the first ones on the lift and having a chance of getting some first tracks in.
The snow was perfect. There was a lot of it and it was fluffy. The rest of the weather was not so great, unfortunately. It was very windy, which lead to closures of the upper lifts at Cannon.
The only option to leave the crowds behind was booting up, which I did. It was exhausting, but when I reached the top of the Mountain I thought it was worth it. All hot and sweaty, because hiking up through deep snow while carrying a snowboard is not necessarily an easy task. There was all that fresh snow around me and complete silence otherwise, nobody else booted up. I could get used to it.
That was the moment I decided to try to do that more often, get a splitboard and explore backcountry snowboarding a little more.
