2 Noras
I decided to try and scale down from 9 inches for non-bowl riding and get a smaller width board. Eventually I landed on Welcome Nora Vasconcellos 8.6. The Wicked Queen shape just looks really good to try out.
The grip tape job took a little bit this time. I cut out a bunch of small triangles, threw them on the grip tape and sprayed over. Repeated this a few times with different colors and the result is layers of triangles falling from nose to tail. I'm pretty happy with it.
The other one is the smaller Nora I set up with our daughter earlier this summer. Grip tape is a stripes pattern, inspired by Prime numbers. Also pretty happy with that one.
I also got curious and wanted to try a different set of trucks. Not Indys this time, I put a set of Krux K5 with Bones hard bushings on. Taking it out for a spin, oh my gosh, those are different trucks. You have to lean in all the way to make them turn. There's no way this will work as a bowl setup. But they are wobbly super fun trucks for park and street would say. No wheelbite so far, it might be the hard bushings that stop the truck just a Millimeter before it would touch the wood. Or the geometry, hard to tell, maybe I swap out the bushings again and see.
I have 54mm Loophole Teardrops on it, I believe it's some 103A duro or so. That's another experimentation area: wheels. Popular opinion is that Spitfires are the best go-to wheels on the market. The logo doesn't work for me though, it's a head thing again. I just don't like how they look. So, instead of going with other big brands, such as OJs or Bones, I wanted to try a smaller brand.
