Backside 180 progress
Things are getting better in the backside 180 department. They're not great, but I can feel some progress being made.
I was trying different approaches, following different advice I saw. One thing that did absolutely not work for me was the "Ollie and then rotate or pivot" approach. Some people manage to ollie straight up, land on their front trucks, and then do a 180 pivot practically on the ground. That's supposed to be an easy way to learn backside 180ies, but I wasn’t able to do that.
For me the secret was unleashing the wound up shoulders and transferring that momentum into the ollie. I focus on the swing motion in my upper body, jump up and turn around at the same time. That seems to work best so far.
When I land one it's close to the backside 180 feeling I have on a snowboard. I absolutely love a long and slowly rotated backside 180, where you have a brief moment of flying blind before bringing the nose under your body to land fakie. It's one of the best feel-good tricks out there.
