Morning session in Ithaca

Morning session in Ithaca

Sneaked out this morning to check out the local skatepark and get a quick skate session in while we are on a short New England vacation.

The park is a little bit crusty and doesn't really have a lot of flow to it. At least I couldn't really figure out a decent line. It was mostly stopping and turning around. There's a steep quarter with pool coping, but it looks awefully narrow, and slippery. I wipped out just leaning into a frontside carve on it.

The round quarter is nice and mellow, good terrain to try a few things without much consequences. The large flat area in front of it makes it easy to push and gain good speed going into it. It was actually a lot of fun trying to get some backside 50/50ies on it. The coping could be slightly bigger. It's easy to just completely roll over it.

There were also a few more quarters with different heights and transtions. It was a good opportunity for me to get my rock-to-fakie back. Like so much in skateboarding, the trick is not hard, it's just a head thing. Once you commit to wheelie back into the ramp, everything is fine, really not hard. Anyways, I had to work my way up, from the small 1ft quarter or so, to the 4 1/2ft one.

Good times!
