New Stormchaser
The warranty claim I filed a few weeks back was accepted, and they sent me a new 157 Stormchaser from this season as replacement.
I'm thrilled! It would've been such a bummer to be left with a falling apart Splitboard, and a new one was not really budgeted for this season.
Best part: they didn't want the board with the delamination defect back. After all, it looked like the delamination appeared much worse when we noticed it outside. I've left the board in the basement for a while, and the delamination gap is a little bit narrower. Must've been that maybe some ice inside melted and the board dried out completely. Or maybe the warmer temperaturs are making a difference.
Anyways, I'm trying to fix the delamintion now, since I don't risk loosing any warranty on that board anymore. I got some Epoxy, good old JB Weld, filled up the gap and clamped it down for a few days. It should be good enough for preventing snow and water filling up the gap and then freezing and pressing the board layers further apart. At least that's my theory.
I ordered a new set of Spark binding pucks. The plan is to keep the old board as "rockboard" around, using it when conditions or base are not great, and I want to ride something where I'm not too worried about hitting stumps and rocks. And only pull out the new one when conditions line up and the ride is 100% on actual snow.
Thank you Jones!
