Nose slides

Nose slide

This week's focus was nose slides, getting them right, to say it more precisely. It's fairly easy to get a nose slide started, and slide for let's say 20 Centimeters or so. But getting over the first sliding stretch, finding a stable position and maintain the slide for longer turned out to be pretty hard.

My goal is to slide over the entire length of the curb on top of the pyramid table in the small park. Filming and video analysis helped me to understand what I'm doing wrong.

Monday

On Monday I figured out my weight is still not fully over the edge. The board is hanging on the curb, which only gives me so much time to balance until I slip off. With enough speed I make it to the middle of the table, but that's not a sustainable nose slide approach. I need to get my weight on top of the curb, so that I stand on it, don't fall off and in theory could slide for an indefinitely amount of time with enough speed.

Tuesday

Slightly better, I'm shifting the weight more onto the curb, which gives me more control and allows me to slide a little longer. Still falling off though. The goal would be to slide until I come to a stand-still.

Friday

Didn't make Wednesday or Thursday to the park, but on Friday it already felt really good occasionally. I stood stable on top of the curb, and need now more speed to make it all the way through. However, sliding until I come to a complete stop still doesn't work. I don't have enough control over the slide. It's mostly a pretty abrupt stop, which throws me off with a step over the nose. I want to try to slide in a lower position with bent knees. Maybe it will yield more control over the slide.

We're getting there!
