Sphinx

After a little bit over 3 Months I upgraded my deck again.

And wheels.

And trucks.

And bearings.

All of it, it's a complete Christmas setup.

My Trucks are ground down to almost the axle, 18 Months in use, while learning Slappies on curbs.

The wheels are down to about 50mm, and the bearings are dirty after about 6 Months of usage. I'll clean and keep the bearings around, but the wheels are now sitting at the park for somebody who's happy with 50mm.

The new deck is the Welcome Sphinx, Nora's new pro model. I just stick with Nora decks, they work for me. I couldn't really get used to popsicles. Looking down just throws me off, I need a more interesting shape down there. Nora's shapes are good choices.

The trucks are a little bit wider this time, 8.75, the Ace AF1 60. More space for slappies and 50/50ies in general.

Wheels are also bigger, the V-shape 56mm from Nfg. I like them, they slide hold and slide when I want them to. Bearings are old and cleaned Bronson Raws, still in decent shape and fast as far as I can tell after 1 session.

I was a little bit worried about wheelbite with the larger wheels, but then I swapped the standard Ace bushings for Nfg hard bushings. They seem to keep wheelbite managable, at least I was expecting more of it. I still get the nice initial Ace surfy turn, but not all the way through where the wheel starts to touch the deck. It's good so far, will see if the bushings break in and get softer over time.

All in all, I'm really enjoying this setup. It's fast, keeps momentum and pops really nice with all that shiny new grip.
